Our Role
Provision of EPCM services for the upgrade of the Xstrata Zinc
Mount Isa Lead Zinc Concentrator to 8MTpa. The project incorporated
increased grinding capacity with the addition of a new 11.5MW ball
mill and additional flotation capacity with 20 x 100m3 tank
cells.
The project also included the design, construction and
commissioning of a 75MVA extension to the existing 132kV Mt Isa
Terminal switchyard.
Project Outcomes
Successful commissioning of the new project exceeding plant nameplate capacity was achieved. The integration of the new 75MVA transformer and substation into the existing 50 year old switchyard infrastructure presented substantial technical and safety challenges to the project team but these were successfully managed without any impact to personnel or business interruption.
